FEATURE — Southern Utah’s live music scene is flourishing and the Canyon Media crew is back to highlighting local musicians. So gather around for another session of “Paper Jams.”
Coming to you from Cloud 9 Studios at Canyon Media, this month’s edition features the Mended Hearts Club, a unique duo that blends folk rock and beat poetry in their original work.

Consisting of vocalist and singer-songwriter Aiden Barrick (he/him) and violinist Judith Rognli (she/they), the Mended Hearts Club resonates with listeners who crave vulnerability and bold authenticity. Their musicianship and friendship translate to palpable onstage chemistry that’s intimate, yet inviting.
Influenced by such artists as Brandi Carlile, the Indigo Girls, Tracy Chapman and Andrea Gibson, the duo weaves together themes of romantic love and self-acceptance.
Drawing from a catalog of music that showcases significant depth, smooth edges and gutsy honesty, they performed an original entitled “Ugly Sweater” for their Paper Jams session. They also played a cover of Depeche Mode’s “Enjoy the Silence.”
Straddling the genres of Americana and indie folk, this duo isn’t concerned with fitting in. While navigating being queer and trans artists, the crux of their platform is layered with comforting melodies, raw powerhouse vocals and intentional messages of social justice, equal rights and inclusion.
