Maria R. Noyola Ramirez, 84, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2022. She was born April 8, 1938, in La Feria, Texas, to Manuel Ramirez and Anita Noyla Castaneda.

Raised in Texas, she was a hard worker at an early age. She quit school to help her mother raise her two brothers and sister. She later moved to Bakersfield, California, and raised her daughter where she worked as a farm laborer, and then as a seamstress. In 1994, Maria moved to St. George, Utah, and worked at her aunt’s restaurant, Paula’s Cazuela, where she was well liked by the locals. Maria loved to sew and had an eye for detail as she loved decorating and organizing.

Maria is survived by her daughter Maria Caples , grandchildren, Antonio Caples and Remy Caples all of Las Vegas, Nevada; brothers Juan Castaneda of Harlingen, Texas, Jaime Castaneda of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Uncle Conrado Dominguez and Aunt Paula Dominguez of St. George along with many cousins, nephews and nieces.

She is preceded in death by her father Manuel Ramirez, mother Anita Noyola Castaneda and sister Olga Castaneda.

An evening viewing will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2022, from 6-8 p.m. at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 South Bluff St., St. George.

A second viewing will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2022, from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. followed by the funeral services at 1 p.m. also at Spilsbury Mortuary.

Interment will take place at Tonaquint Cemetery, 1777 S Dixie Dr, St. George.
