ST. GEORGE  – Scott Florence, recently retired from a 38-year career with the Bureau of Land Management and a former member of Lakeview, Oregon Rotary Club, has been named Rotarian of the Year (2013-14) by the board of the Red Rock Rotary Club. Club President Egor Shulman said Florence has been involved in many successful activities and service projects during his seven years in Red Rock Rotary Club, but he was particularly recognized with this special honor for kick-starting the lengthy process of developing a 3-year strategic plan beginning with a visioning activity involving most of his club members.

Red Rock Rotary Club is one of four Rotary clubs in Washington County and more than 34,000 Rotary clubs in the world. This highly respected service club, chartered in 2003, boasts a small but highly effective membership of local business, civic and education leaders in the St. George community dedicated to Rotary International’s motto of “service above self.”

Rotarians, like Scott Florence and 25 other members of Red Rock Rotary Club, work together locally and in more than 200 countries, to improve the world through club, community, vocational, youth and international service.

For more information about Florence’s recognition, other programs of Rotary International in the local community or the requirements for membership in Red Rock Rotary Club, see www.redrockrotary.org or call 619-1317.
