ST. GEORGE — Lil Barron, who previously held the position of Community Relations and Development Director for Habitat for Humanity of Southwest Utah for three years, is back on the job after a yearlong hiatus.

According to Sommer Bowler, chairwoman of the nonprofit organization’s board of trustees:

“We are very pleased to have Lil back with Habitat. Her enthusiasm and energy are real assets to our Habitat affiliate. In addition, she has a reputation for hard work and efficiency and, equally important, she is well connected in the community.”

In her responsibilities for fundraising and increasing awareness of the programs of Habitat for Humanity of Southwest Utah, she will also be working closely with Linda Baker, the newly hired Executive Director, with whom she worked for more than 25 years in Salt Lake City and later in the local office of Workers Compensation Fund. In their time with WCF, they came to be known as “the dream team,” or the “dynamic duo” by both customers and staff.

“I am thrilled to, once again, be working alongside Linda,” Barron, said. “We have great programs, a great staff, and great volunteers. The future is bright for our affiliate, although on some days — with the ReStore, the A Brush with Kindness program, building houses and managing the business of the affiliate — it feels like we are trying to drink from a fire hose.”

After 30 years as the Administrative Assistant at WCF, Barron stepped down in 2012 to pursue other areas of interest, including new challenges with Habitat for Humanity and her numerous volunteer activities. She is currently a member of the board of the St. George Area Chamber of Commerce as well as a Dixie Sunshiner. She has served on the board of the Leadership Academy, the board of the Utah Business and Professional Women’s Foundation, as well as the board of the non-profit Big Brothers / Big Sisters organization. She is also a longtime member and past president of the Red Rock Rotary Club; and a board member and immediate past president of the Utah Business Women of St. George.

Also part of Habitat for Humanity of Southwest Utah’s management team is Linda Sappington, former Director of the Southern Utah Volunteer Center Network and the Five County Senior Corps, who brings her expertise in grantwriting and public relations to the organization.

Wendy Sheppick, with nearly two decades of office management experience, was recently hired as the affiliate’s Administrative Assistant. Sheppick, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, is currently working toward a Master’s degree in her field from Stevens Henager College.

Habitat for Humanity of Southwest Utah, located at 835 S.
