Comics, cover bands and local musicians: Bumbleberry Theater’s spring shows offer something for everyone

CONTRIBUTED CONTENT — The Bumbleberry Theater, nestled in beautiful Springdale, has unveiled a dazzling lineup of entertainment for the spring season. Featuring both local talent and touring entertainers, there’s always a reason to get excited about the next concert or event.

“We have two great comedians coming that will provide an evening of laughter and fun,” Bumbleberry Inn owner Stan Smith said. “Every Friday is free music with some of the best musicians in the area performing, and Saturday concerts are more formal with the most requested bands.”

Mark Boggs

Mark Boggs is a piano rocker who loves playing the iconic songbooks of Elton John and Billy Joel as well as artists like Randy Newman, Jackson Browne and Leon Russell. He plays throughout Southern Utah as a solo artist and tickles the ivories for local band The Relics, dazzling audiences with a medley of musical genres. Friday, May 3, starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are free.

Andy Beningo

With over 3,500 career performances, Andy Beningo has established himself as one of the most in-demand comics working today. His rare ability to find humor in subjects like growing up as a middle child, his short-lived career as a teacher and society’s obsession with technology have made him a crowd favorite with audiences worldwide. Saturday, May 4, starting at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $15.

The Mixx

The Mixx, a dynamic six-piece band based in St. George, embodies the spirit of classic rock to take listeners on a sonic journey through the timeless sounds of the genre. Infusing energy and passion into their performances, they create a nostalgic yet vibrant musical experience that resonates with audiences of all ages. Friday, May 10, starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are free.

Desert Stars

A highlight of Southern Utah’s music scene, Desert Stars features local musicians Franky Dee, Bill Loucks, Lew Winter and Layne Benson. The band performs the greatest hits of beloved artists like Neil Young, R.E.M., John Denver, the Eagles, America, Eric Clapton, Crosby, Stills Nash, & Young, Simon & Garfunkel, Roy Orbison and the Beatles, as well as their own original songs. Saturday, May 11, starting at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $15.

Jordan Makin

Comedian Jordan Makin became notorious on “Dry Bar Comedy” for his beef with improv troupes and his love affair with fitness tracking devices. His first special, “The Big Fat Funny Ginger,” received millions of views online, and his second special, “Heckboy,” as well as his comedy album “Closed Concept,” are streaming now. Thursday, May 16, starting at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $15.

The Relics

The Relics are a band of four seasoned musicians entertaining the Southwest with an eclectic mix of classic rock, blues, soul and country. Having performed at breweries, lounges, festivals and corporate and private events, they’ve learned a great deal about supporting their community while remaining old, fragile and highly desired. Friday, May 17, starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are free.

Casey Lofthouse and Friends

Enjoy an evening of some of the finest country music performed by Casey Lofthouse, Southern Utah’s hometown country star. Lofthouse and his friends will entertain the audience with songs and stories that will leave you feeling good. Saturday, May 18, starting at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $15.

“Forever is Now” Film Screening

Experience the awe-inspiring story of Zion National Park through the eyes of its many keepers. “Forever is Now,” a feature-length documentary sponsored by the Zion Forever Project, is the result of over two years of blood, sweat and tears as dedicated filmmakers carried hundreds of pounds of equipment through the famed canyon. Thursday, May 23, starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are free.

River House

Southern Utah’s own River House band is anchored by lead vocalist and guitarist Patrick McEwen, also an accomplished solo performer. With David Smith on bass, Gary Gautney on drums and Jimmy James on guitar, this soulful quartet serves up a smoky blend of delta and Chicago blues mixed with American roots and outlaw country. Friday, May 24, starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are free.

Primetime Band: Neil Diamond

The Primetime Band is back with a high-energy cover show celebrating one of the best-selling musicians of all time, the legendary Neil Diamond. Producer Franky Dee and a talented ensemble of performers will breathe new life into “Sweet Caroline,” “Cracklin’ Rosie,” “Song Sung Blue” and other classics for an unforgettable night of music. Saturday, May 25, starting at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $15.

Adobe Taylor

Southern Utah-based singer-songwriter Adobe Taylor performs on a regular basis at restaurants, cafes, festivals and other venues in the area. His bluesy sound compels listeners to tune in as he plays both covers and originals. Friday, May 31, starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are free.
