Hurricane Valley Fire District arrived to douse the fire at approximately 3:11 p.m. after crews were dispatched to an incident on I-15 near mile marker 23 in the farthest right northbound lane.

“Original reports stated that the vehicle was hanging over the guard rail and was starting on fire,” Hurricane Valley Fire District posted on social media. “There were two occupants of the vehicle who were able to get out on their own.

“Crews arrived on scene shortly afterward and were able to extinguish the fire. All patients were assessed and refused transport to the hospital.”

Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Cameron Roden told St. George News the incident occurred after the driver of the Ford F-150 allegedly hit another vehicle.

“The crash by Leeds was a pickup truck that rear-ended another vehicle when he was trying to pass,” Roden said. “The pickup truck then rolled and hit the right barrier. The white pickup then started on fire. Everyone was out and no one was transported.”

The left northbound I-15 lanes remained open while crews extinguished the fire and removed the vehicle from the scene. Roden said all lanes were cleared and open by 8 p.m. No southbound traffic was impacted by the incident.

This report is based on statements from court records, police or other responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
