Easter Car Show roars into Southern Utah with 300 cars expected

HURRICANE — For some Southern Utah residents, madness in March means basketball. Others get wax jobs, fresh oil changes and fine-tune their engines for the Hurricane Valley Rotary Club Easter Car Show.

This year, organizers are expecting more than 300 vehicle entries and dozens of vendors. Multiple food trucks will also be selling food and beverages at the Hurricane Valley Rotary’s annual fundraiser supporting the club’s service projects.

“Those who attend are making donations that help make Washington County a wonderful place to live, work and do business,” Hurricane Valley Rotary President Clint Lawton said. “The last two years’ shows enabled the club to open the new All-Abilities Playground at Dixie Spring Park in June 2023.”

Those interested in spring cleaning their car, truck, motorcycle, van or any unique mode of transportation — tractors are welcome — can still register their vehicle for display in the Rotary’s 39th yearly showing.

“The annual show is one of the biggest events in Hurricane Valley, with nearly 10,000 people attending the one-day extravaganza last year,” said former Rotary President Patti Nation. “This year’s show will help support the future Hurricane Veterans Memorial Park. The club also supports numerous school programs, scouting, food banks, local charitable causes and many local individuals in need. Bring the family, help make a difference and see some cool cars.”

Prizes will be awarded in 41 categories and attendees and entrants vote for Peoples’ Choice and Rodders’ Choice awards.

Hurricane Valley Rotary Club members are dedicated professionals who share a passion for community service, friendship and “the drive to give back.”

“We welcome service-oriented individuals, business professionals and other community members to join us in our commitment to improve the world around us,” Lawton said. “The most important qualification for membership is a passion for serving the community and creating friendships.”

There are more than 46,000 Rotary clubs around the world, with more than 1.4 million members who are dedicated to “service above self.”

Lawton added that the Hurricane High School Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps, Hurricane High Interact Club (Rotary’s way of introducing youth to community service) and the Hurricane Valley Lions Club are also assisting at this year’s car show fundraiser.

“We sincerely appreciate our sponsors, vendors, entrants, and visitors for supporting such a wonderful cause. I know first-hand the difference we can make together,” Lawson said. “We want to thank Matt’s Off-Road Recovery for being our title sponsor. And for the great support of the City of Hurricane and Canyon Media.”
