ST. GEORGE — Mitt Romney, the 71-year-old former Massachusetts governor, 2012 GOP presidential nominee and U.S. Senate candidate in Utah, is coming to St. George to speak at a dinner Friday hosted by the Washington County Republican Women.

Romney will be the guest speaker at this year’s fall social for the group. The dinner event, which will start at 6 p.m. at Abbey Inn in St. George, will also feature a special musical performance by Wade Hindes.

Romney will face off against Jenny Wilson, the Utah Democratic nominee for Senate, and a handful of independent candidates in the general election Nov. 6. He’s seeking to replace Orrin Hatch, who is retiring. Romney has lived in Utah since 2012 and previously headed the Salt Lake Organizing Committee for the 2002 Winter Olympics.

“We’re fifth generation Utahns — we took a little time off to go to Massachusetts to go to school and work, but I’m back to Utah,” Romney told St. George News in June.

Romney has said he wants to focus on fixing the country’s legal immigration system, allowing states to determine gun laws and moving public lands from federal control to the control of individual states.

When announcing his candidacy for the Senate, Romney said the following:

I am running for United States Senate because in these trying times there is no better moment to bring Utah’s values to Washington. Utah’s economic and political success is a model for our nation. I am ready to fight for this great state and advocate for solutions that improve the lives of Utahns.

    Romney is a carpet-bagging flip-flopper.
Vote blue in November and send this man packing.

Propaganda, plain and simple. Apparently, you don’t see what’s coming in November.
Let me make it perfectly clear. Conservatism is a dying ideology. Period.
If you want to help “end corruption” you don’t vote Republican. And you sure as hellfire don’t vote for a conservative.

The only blue wave coming in November is if you put a tidy bowl tablet in your toliet tank, then flush and watch the magic…
