ST. GEORGE — Police have arrested the suspect allegedly responsible for killing a man found dead Friday inside a mobile home in a trailer park off of Dixie Downs Road.
Update June 23, 1 p.m. Victor Manuel Hernandez, of St George, was taken into custody early Saturday morning, shortly after midnight, according to information obtained from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office bookings website.
Hernandez was booked into jail on charge of murder, a first-degree felony. He is being held at Purgatory Correctional Facility on $250,000 bail.
The arrest stems from an incident Friday where officers responded to a residence on 1575 North after neighbors contacted police about an altercation that took place at Red Shadows Mobile Home Park the night before.
“The altercation occurred some time during the night, and the caller believed that someone may have been killed at that location,” St. George Police Captain Mike Giles told St. George News.
After officers responded and taped off the area, detectives were called in to conduct an investigation and process the scene.
Giles said that investigators were provided information on a particular suspect believed to be involved in the incident, who is being questioned by police at the writing of this report.
“We don’t believe anyone else is involved, other than the decedent and the person we are talking to and there is no danger to the public.”
Giles said that the investigation is still in the preliminary stages, and no further details are available as this report publishes.
This is the second suspicious death the investigators have responded to in less than two weeks, when the body of a woman was discovered June 13 inside of an apartment on North Bluff Street.

Just think how happy we will all be when St Geo and surrounding communities reach the 200 thousand mark. We can’t even manage what we have now yet we are led to believe we need Lake Powell water and a few thousand incoming residents each year.
