ST. GEORGE — A vehicle was rear-ended on Monday morning on southbound Interstate 15 when traffic was slowed down after a tire blowout.
Just before 10 a.m., a transport van from Southern Utah University had a tire blowout near milepost 11. The van was able to navigate over to the left shoulder, and traffic was significantly slowed down as a result for several miles, said Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Mike Murphy.
As the traffic backed up, the driver of a Mitsubishi Outlander was unable to slow down fast enough and rear-ended a GMC Yukon near milepost 15, Mower said.
There were no reported injuries, and everyone involved was wearing a seatbelt.
The scene was clear at approximately 11:15 a.m.

As the traffic slowed, the driver of the Mitsubishi Outlander failed to keep a reactionary gap between them and the vehicles in front of them and use appropriate awareness, and plowed into the back of the vehicle in front of them.
Don’t follow that close, and keep your eyes open and your mind on driving. If you see a vehicle leaving a gap between them and the vehicle in front of them, it’s not an invitation to pull in and hit your brakes.
