Lynn James Cook

Feb. 11, 1930 — Sept. 5, 2017

Lynn James Cook, 87, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 5, in Gillette, Wyoming. He was born, Feb. 11, 1930, in Syracuse, Utah, to Nephi and Frances Dyson Cook.

Lynn loved dogs, Readers Digest jokes and babies. He taught us the importance of love, forgiveness and overcoming life’s obstacles. He is loved and will be missed.

Lynn is survived by his children and stepchildren: James Cook, Janice Thayne, Karen Cook, Robert Cook, Carol McKee, David Dix, Richard Dix and Edmund Dix; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gretta Cook; and stepson, Arthur Dix.

Funeral services

  • Graveside services will be Friday, Sept. 8, at 1 p.m. at the LaVerkin City Cemetery.
  • A visitation will be held Friday, prior to services, from noon-12:45 p.m. at the Metcalf Hurricane Valley Mortuary, 140 North Main Street, Hurricane.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, 435-673-4221.
