ENTERPRISE – A dead body was found near Enterprise Friday afternoon that has tentatively been identified as that of a missing person out of Las Vegas, Nevada.
At about 1:50 p.m., the Washington County Sheriff’s Office received reports that a citizen moving cattle about 9 miles southwest of Enterprise Reservoir had come across human remains. Sheriff’s Office personnel responded to the area to investigate the report.
“It was in an extremely remote location,” Washington County Sheriff’s Sgt. David Crouse said.
The body was found in the vicinity of a vehicle with out-of-state plates that appeared to have been involved in a motor vehicle accident, according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office.
“The remains have been tentatively identified as those of a missing person out of Las Vegas, Nevada,” the press release said.
A medical examiner will complete final identification of the body.
As of this publication, Crouse said the body has been removed from the site and released to the medical examiner. The scene where the body was found is still being investigated, though responders have suspended their investigation for the night due to dark conditions and the remoteness of the area.
Pending notification to family members, the identity of the person has not yet been released as this report is published.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
