MOHAVE COUNTY, Ariz. – Northbound lanes of Interstate 15 near the Utah-Arizona state line have reopened after being closed due to a semitruck fire at milepost 22 around 9:25 p.m. Wednesday, according to a statement from Arizona Department of Transportation.
The lanes reopened around 10:30 p.m.
The incident occurred about seven miles south of the state line.
Southbound lanes of I-15 remained open during the incident.
Alternate route and tips for drivers
Those seeking to avoid the traffic backup and construction work in the Virgin River Gorge may take Highway 91 as an alternate route. The highway bypasses the Gorge entirely, intersecting with I-15 at Exit 8 for Littlefield, Arizona, to the south and connecting to St. George at the north via Santa Clara and Sunset Boulevard. See map included in this article.
