SANTA CLARA — Police charged a driver with a DUI Tuesday night after a collision at Pioneer Parkway and Lava Cove Drive in Santa Clara.
The accident was reported just before 8 p.m. after a car crashed into the side of a pickup truck.
The 36-year-old driver of a bronze Nissan Altima was headed west on Pioneer Parkway when he went off the road, overcorrected and hit the rear driver’s side of a black Chevy Silverado, Ivins-Santa Clara Public Safety Officer Chad Holt said.
Holt said the driver of the Altima was charged with a DUI in connection with the accident. He was not booked into jail, however, as he had cuts to his face and had to be transported by Ivins Ambulance to Dixie Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Though the driver was not jailed, he will face criminal charges for the DUI.
The 37-year-old man driving the Silverado declined ambulance transport to the hospital and did not report any injuries.
There were no passengers in either vehicle.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
